Please note that submission to this open-access journal is free of charge to authors.
Please look through the instructions for authors below and then simply fill in the online form and follow the instructions to upload your manuscript. The manuscript itself should be submitted as a rich text (RTF format) or Word document, and any figures submitted should be saved as JPEG, GIF, TIF or EPS files.
During the submission process, the submitting author will be asked whether the work has been, or is being considered for publication elsewhere and will be required to state on behalf of all the authors that the work meets all relevant ethical guidelines and legal requirements.
All submitted manuscripts will be acknowledged by the Editor.

Manuscript style
The Journal publishes a variety of papers: original articles, reviews, short reports, conference reports, letters to the editor and case studies.
An Original Article or Review has an Abstract, main text up to 3,500 words, a maximum of six tables or figures and 20-50 references.
A Short Report would typically have an Abstract, main text up to 2,000 words, a maximum of two tables or figures and up to 20 references.
A Letter would typically be up to 500 words, optionally one table or figure and up to five references.
The Abstract, of up to 250 words, should be divided into sections entitled Objectives, Methods, Results and Conclusions. It should describe the content of the paper and the important conclusions accurately, couched in terms that will be understood by the majority of readers of the Journal. The Abstract is entered separately during the submission process, but should also be part of the main article.
Original Articles and Reviews should comprise the following sections:
Title page : This should contain a concise article title, a shortened version (no more than 50 characters including spaces) for the running head, initials and surnames of the authors, their affiliations, and the full postal address, fax and telephone number, and e-mail address of an author to whom correspondence can be addressed. A list of key words (maximum five please) is required as part of the submission.
Main text : This should start on a new page, and include Introduction, Methods, Results and Discussion sections. The suggested points of insertion for illustrations should be indicated. Authors should avoid abbreviations (except those commonly understood), long sentences, and many juxtaposed numbers in sentences.
References : These should be in the Vancouver style, i.e. numbered throughout the text in consecutive order using Arabic numerals in parentheses. The references should be listed in numerical order at the end of the paper using the following styles. List all authors when six or fewer and list the first three followed by et al. when there are more than six. Unpublished work should only be cited in the text. Only references genuinely in press should be listed in the reference list. We recommend the use of a tool such as EndNote or Reference Manager for reference management and formatting.

Tables, Figures and Illustrations
Tables should be numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals with a fully informative caption as a heading. Column headings should be brief, with units of measurement in parentheses. Vertical lines should not be used to separate columns. Electronic tables should be provided in an editable format (.rtf or .doc). All illustrations (including photographs) are classified as figures and should also be numbered consecutively.
Authors should submit artwork electronically. Photographs should be saved at 300 d.p.i. in TIF format, or in JPG format with low compression. Line figures should preferably be submitted in vector graphics format, and either embedded as such in a Word document or saved in EPS format. If this is not possible, they should be saved separately as pixel-based graphics at 600 d.p.i. (at the required print size) and saved in TIF (not JPG) format, or embedded as such in a Word document. Combination figures (e.g. with photographic and line/text content) should be prepared as for line figures.
Please note that authors will have to pay the cost of any colour reproduction of figures in the printed Journal.
Acknowledgements : These should be brief and must include references to sources of financial and logistical support.
Units : Measurements must be in SI units and authors should use solidus, e.g. mg/h. Units, Symbols and Abbreviations (Royal Society of Medicine, 1988) is a useful guide.
Permissions : It is the authors' responsibility to obtain and provide proof of permission to reproduce previously published material.
Page proofs : These must be returned to the Production Editor within 3 days of receipt. Only typographical errors and other essential small changes can be made at this stage. Major alterations to the text cannot be accepted.
